Field instruction in social work is an experiential learning process that provides students with hands on experience in an area of social work practice that fits their interests and career direction. It gives students opportunities to develop as professional service providers, applying the knowledge, skills, and values taught in the classroom. Our field program utilizes only qualified and experienced field instructors from across the state and region who volunteer their time to meet the needs of students in both direct practice and community organization/social administration tracks and in the three major fields of practice: mental health, children and families, and health care. Field program policies are designed and operate in accordance with accreditation standards of CSWE.
