Dual Degree and graduate certificates
Students can take advantage of additional educational opportunities when enrolled in the WVU Division of Social Work.
- A popular option is the Dual MSW/MPA Degree offered in partnership with the Division of Public Administration. Whether in the Direct Practice or COSA track, students can acquire the background to enhance their potential for a career in social services administration.
- The Graduate Certificate in Gerontology, offered in conjunction with the WVU Center on Aging, affords students an opportunity to explore the basic biological, psychological, and sociological processes of aging. The US and countries around the globe are experiencing an unprecedented growth in their populations of older adults. This certificate program will equip social work professionals to better understand and address the needs of this population.
- The Graduate Nonprofit Management Certificate provides students with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in administering nonprofit agencies or working effectively as a board member. Specialized courses include financial management for nonprofits, grant writing, and use of technology.
- The Public Administration Division offers a healthcare administration specialization for students interested in a career in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, health departments, nursing homes, mental health services, home health services, nonprofit voluntary agencies, health research foundations, public and private insurance, and a variety of government agencies.
