Graduate Social Work Organization

The Graduate Social Work Organization (GSWO) is an officially recognized WVU student organization with a long history of student activity and service in the school of social work and in the surrounding community.

Meeting times and dates will be sent to all students via the school of social work student listservs.

The membership of the GSWO is open to any WVU MSW student who is in good standing (not subject to either academic or disciplinary probation or suspension).

Examples of Past GSWO-Sponsored Activities

  • GSWO officers or their representative are required to attend monthly faculty meetings to provide student representation and perspective.
  • Sponsor a community/professional continuing education event every March in honor of Social Work month.
  • Join with the Undergraduate Student Organization to participate in WVU – Student Organization’s “Trunk or Treat” event.
  • Cook dinner for families residing at the Ronald McDonald Family House.
  • Participate in service projects at the Boys and Girls Club, WV Family Grief Center, United Way and the Center for Civic Engagement.
