PhD Committee

Members: Carrie Rishel, Chair; Bridget Bailey; Andrew Irish; Jiyoung Tabone

Purpose: To guide the development of the first-ever PhD program in social work for the state of West Virginia.

Objectives:

  1. Collaborate with the PhD Program Director in providing for the effective administrative functioning of the PhD Program.
  2. Collaborate with the PhD Program Director in program marketing, recruitment, and admissions strategies.
  3. Collaborate with the PhD Program Director in planning PhD Program orientations, advising, and programming.
  4. Collaborate with the PhD Program Director in promoting research and teaching mentorship for PhD Program students.
  5. Promote inclusion of PhD Program students into the richness of the School of Social Work and University communities.
  6. Collaborate with other SSW program directors/coordinators to ensure integration of PhD Program GTAs into BSW/MSW teaching and programming.
  7. Consider possibilities for fostering the ethical use of generative AI in educational programming.
