Aging and Gerontology

The WVU School of Social Work is committed to advancing research on aging and gerontology to improve the well-being of older adults and their families.

Our faculty explore aging and health care, rural aging, and innovative experiential learning activities to prepare future social workers for the complexities of geriatric care. Research in this area focuses on family caregiving, geriatric education, and the unique challenges faced by older adults in rural communities. Through evidence-based practices and community partnerships, we aim to enhance support systems and improve quality of life for aging populations.
