Jeanie DeVito Brenneman

MSW, LICSW

Jeanie is a Medical Social Worker for Amedisys Home Care. She previously has worked as a Medical Social Worker for Amedisys Hospice and a Social Worker and Executive Director of the Hospice of Marion County. Jeanie worked as a Geriatric Specialist for Summit Center and was an Adult Service Worker for DHHR. Jeanie was awarded a BSW from Alderson-Broaddus in 1977 and an MSW from West Virginia University in 2004.

Jeanie’s social work focus has been with adults with a concentration in Geriatrics. She has been awarded a Practitioner’s Certificate in Geriatrics from WVU and a certificate in Advanced Care Planning. In 2012, she received the Anita S. Harbert Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Aging.

Jeanie feels strongly about giving back to her community and WVU. She has been involved in community development. She helped create the Connecting Link and the WV Family Grief Center. She has been a Board Member of the Tygart Valley United Way, serving in the past as President, Secretary, as Chair of the Community Review Committee and a current member. She is the current Secretary of The Connecting Link, having served as President in the past. Jeanie has volunteered with the Care Center, would facilitate educational grief support groups. She has been active in her church as past members of the choir, Liturgy Committee, Faith Formation faculty, and is currently a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. 

Jeanie has been a BSW and MSW Field Supervisor for WVU since 2005. In the past, she served on various committees for the School of Social work that included re-establishing the Geriatric Practitioner’s Certificate, the Field Faculty Steering Committee, and the Summer Institute on Aging Planning Committee. 

Jeanie has presented at the West Virginia Social Worker Spring Conference, the Louis A. Johnson Medical Center, the Summer Institute on Aging, and several long-term care facilities with topics that included Advanced Care Planning, Grief and Loss, Death and Dying, and Secondary Trauma with Medical Social Workers.
