Student Organizations

The WVU School of Social Work is home to two student organizations dedicated to fostering community, service, and professional development among social work students: the Undergraduate Social Work Organization (USWO) and the Graduate Social Work Organization (GSWO). These organizations provide students with opportunities to engage in volunteer work, advocate for important social issues, and connect with peers and professionals in the field.

Undergraduate Social Work Organization (USWO)

The Undergraduate Social Work Organization (USWO) is an inclusive student organization that automatically includes all undergraduate social work students as members. USWO focuses on student engagement, service, and advocacy within the School of Social Work and the broader community.

Membership & Meetings

Meeting times and dates are shared with students through the School of Social Work student listservs.

Leadership & Activities

Each January, USWO elects the following officer positions for a one-year term:

  • President

USWO is committed to organizing volunteer opportunities for students, gathering student feedback on academic needs, and creating meaningful experiences that reinforce the values of social work. The organization has already hosted multiple service events and plans to continue its efforts to make a lasting impact at WVU and in the Morgantown community.
