Mandy Weirich, LSW, MSW

MSW Online Program Coordinator, Gerontology Program Coordinator, and Clinical Instructor

Mandy Weirich is the MSW Online Program Coordinator, Gerontology Program Coordinator, and a Clinical Instructor at the School of Social Work. In addition to her administration and leadership duties at the School of Social Work, Ms. Weirich teaches and develops online asynchronous social work and gerontology courses.

Ms. Weirich has been a licensed professional social worker in West Virginia since 2008. She began her social work career as an Adult Protective Service (APS) worker for the Department of Health and Human Resources.  Since then, she has served as the full-time statewide trainer for APS and as a Program Coordinator for Healthy Home—an innovative supportive housing and health model for low-income seniors, through the Randolph County Housing Authority in Elkins, West Virginia.

Ms. Weirich has co-authored multiple publications and technical reports on topics of social isolation, Adult Protective Services, and rural service networks, contributed to the NAPSA Adult Protective Services Abuse Registry National Report, and has been interviewed about caregiving, the future of Medicare, and pursing an MSW career. She has also served as a Co-PI on a 3-year grant to develop a Gerontology Practitioner Certificate for West Virginia Adult Service/APS Workers. Her primary interests in social work are in the field of gerontology, policy, health care, and the use of technology in education and social work. She is also an avid reader and lover of history.
