Caitlin Sussman
Caitlin has been a social worker in Morgantown, WV since her graduation in 2013. Caitlin has spent her career working in the community with people who are experiencing homelessness, people with mental health conditions, and people who use drugs. She has experience in case management, medical social work, counseling, program management, and social work supervision. Caitlin refers to herself as a“generalist” social worker. Caitlin uses Harm Reduction, Peer Support, and Motivational Interviewing models to guide her practice. Policy and social justice are two particular areas of interest in social work for Caitlin. Caitlin enjoys facilitating groups, taking clients to the community garden, and participating in a recovery choir with clients at the drop-in center she manages. Caitlin is also interested in social workers' work conditions and preventing social worker burn-out. She enjoys teaching students has been the field instructor of over 20 graduating BSW and MSW students. Caitlin has taught courses on Human Diversity and Groups and Families for the WVU School of Social work and looks forward to many more experiences working with students. Caitlin’s favorite thing about the profession is how no two days are alike.
