Trans*forming Healthcare in West Virginia
Transgender and gender diverse West Virginians face challenges to accessing the healthcare that they need to be healthy, happy, and successful. In response to this need, Dr. Megan Gandy created the
Trans*forming Healthcare in West Virginia project, a community-engaged research project funded by the
WVU Provost’s Community Engagement Grant in 2020-21 and the WVU School of Social Work’s Schneider-Langlois Fund in 2021. This project is a partnership between the WVU School of Social Work and the WVU School of Medicine and is part of
an overall effort to improve healthcare for transgender and gender diverse patients. A Community Advisory Board comprised of 6 transgender or gender diverse individuals or parents of children is providing guidance and insight throughout the research process. For more information, contact
