WV Stem and Family Travel Fund

The first state-wide program in the nation, the WV STEM+ Family Travel Initiative provides female faculty/post-doctoral scholars at West Virginia public and private institutions of higher learning the opportunity to apply for reimbursement of incremental child and eldercare expenses incurred as a result of traveling. The program is administered by the WV Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) to provide visibility and equity throughout all higher education institutions. For more information contact: Dr. Leslie E. Tower.

The primary goal of WV STEM+ Family Travel Initiative is to reduce caregiving barriers to work-related travel by establishing sustainable statewide policy-driven solutions for female faculty with family responsibilities. The project’s goal contributes to strategies to better recruit, retain, and promote women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and social sciences fields in WV.
