BSW Online Professional Level Application

Students interested in applying to WVU and enrolling in the BSW Online program will need to complete the WVU Online application as well as the BSW Online professional level application.

The requirements for admission into the BSW Online program include:
  • Completion of SOWK 147 and SOWK 151 with a minimum grade of C-, by anticipated start of the fall semester
  • An associate’s degree or minimum of 58 credits* by anticipated start of the fall semester
  • Completion of at least 75% of the GEF requirements
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • 50 hours of human service (volunteer or paid) documented on the School of Social Work forms
  • Submission of a positive letter of recommendation from a human service supervisor, college-level academic instructor/professor, or human services agency work supervisor
*Associate’s degree and/or transfer credits must come from a regionally accredited institution. (can be smaller font size)

Application Process

In addition to the WVU Online application, students will complete the professional application with the School of Social Work, which includes the following forms:
  1. Professional application 
  2. Service Hours Verification
Professional applications should be emailed to BSW@mail.wvu.edu and should be completed at the same time as the WVU Online application. The BSW Admission Committee reviews each application, and students are notified of the outcome of their application within three weeks.
