Sabiha started the PhD program in Social Work at West Virginia University in the Fall of 2025. She is originally from Netrokona, Bangladesh and completed both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Social Work at the University of Dhaka. Her professional journey began as a Program Officer in the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, where she worked on women’s empowerment and gender development. Sabiha later served as an Assistant Director at Bangladesh Scouts, focusing on training, leadership and youth and community development. In 2016, she joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) as a General Education Cadre (Lecturer) and was later promoted to Assistant Professor (social work) at Badrunnessa Government Girls’ College, Dhaka, where she taught and mentored students while continuing to serve her country with dedication. 

Through these academic and professional experiences, Sabiha has developed strong research interests in gender and inequality, adolescent behavioral and mental health, and community development. Building on this foundation, she aims to apply her research and professional experience to influence policy development, promote equity, strengthen adolescent mental health, and expand community-based support systems.
